#204 KOTOR, MONTENEGRO
This UNESCO site features a bay surrounded by mountains on four sides and by the small city of Kotor on the west side. Some locations in the area were used in shooting the 2006 James Bond, Casino Royale – such as this scene. The best view features a small watchtower reached by steps that climb the western cliffs. The steps can be reached easily from several points in the north part of the city. Looking south out the bay from the bell tower at sunset is the best image. Greenery lasts here in the subtropical climate from March to November, but side-lighting is best around the equinoxes. In winter the scene could be quite backlit. The town also features some interesting ancient ruins and churches.
