PRINT TYPES

Our archival photographic paper prints are printed on Fuji Pearl Paper. Fuji Pearl is known for its superb renderings of the colors of nature: blues, greens and reds. With its special coating containing pearly mica crystals and metal oxides, we’ve entered a new era in high quality, glossy, digital images. The crystals allow for a delicate interplay of transparency, refraction, and multiple reflections. One can discern silver-white and metallic reflection effects that lend a sensational depth and warmth to the eye. Fuji Pearl is wonderfully suited for display purposes as it has exceptional image stability, giving you a piece that should retain its coloring for 150 years! Most framer shops are familiar with this paper, but if there are any questions about mounting, please have them contact us directly.

Aluminum prints are done with dye-sublimation printing, which is a digital printing technology using full color artwork that works with polyester and polymer-coated substrates. The process is sometimes known as dye-diffusion. In sublimation printing, unique sublimation dyes are transferred to sheets of “transfer” paper via liquid gel ink through a special printing head. In order to transfer the image from the paper to the substrate, it requires a heat press process that is a combination of time, temperature and pressure. The end result of the sublimation process is a nearly permanent, high resolution, full color print. Because the dyes are infused into the substrate at the molecular level, rather than applied at a topical level, the prints will not crack, fade or peel from the substrate under normal conditions.

CARE: Though it can be scratched, the ultra-hard, scratch-resistant surface of the aluminum prints is effectively waterproof and weatherproof. It can be cleaned easily with any commercial glass cleaner and micro-fiber cloth or clean, lint-free cotton cloth. We recommend avoiding direct sunlight when you hang your piece.

Our Acrylic face mount prints are printed on Lustre Paper which is then bonded to a highly polished 1/8” acrylic face. A French cleat mount on the di-bond backing is used to hang the piece for a sturdy, yet stunning presentation.

CARE: Acrylics may scratch, so care needs to be taken when cleaning. Apply a specialty cleaning product, like Novus No. 1, Brillianize, or a mild soap and water solution. NEVER use window cleaning fluids with ammonia (such as Windex or Formula 409), gasoline, denatured alcohol, carbon tetrachloride, or acetone. This will cause minute cracks.  Use a dampened, non-abrasive, lint-free soft cloth, micro-fiber cloth or cellulose sponge. Rinse well with clear, clean water. Blot dry with a chamois, damp cellulose sponge or micro-fiber cloth to prevent water spotting. If the acrylic does become scratched, there are ways to repair minor scratches. Contact us for more information. As with all prints, we recommend avoiding direct sunlight when you hang your piece.

The canvas prints are the result of an inkjet image printed directly onto canvas using the  giclée) process. Prints are then stretched or gallery-wrapped, onto a frame and displayed.

The canvas print material is generally cotton or plastic based poly canvas. After the image is printed, the canvas is trimmed to size and glued and stapled to traditional stretcher bars usually made from pine. Our prints are designed to continue around the edges of a stretcher frame once gallery-wrapped, in order to enhance the three-dimensional effect of the mounted print.

CARE: Canvas prints are quite durable, but they still require specific care and attention. To clean your canvas, give your print a light dust with a soft, lint-free, dry cloth. If your canvas becomes soiled, gently wipe with a damp cloth. Your canvas is protected from abrasions, scratches and UV with a light coating. It is important that when cleaning canvas prints you do not use any chemicals as they will damage your protective coating.  When transporting and storing your photo on canvas be careful not to lean anything against the canvas to prevent anything from damaging or piercing the canvas.  To ensure your printed canvas lasts for years, do not keep your canvas in direct sunlight. Direct sunlight can cause the print to fade over time. Also, canvas material is not weatherproof and should be kept indoors away from high humidity and moisture.

HANGING, FRAMING, AND MOUNTING OPTIONS

Our metal float hangers provide a clean, elegant hanging solution, making your print appear as though it is floating 3/4 inch off the wall. To hang float mount prints, simply put your hook or nail into your wall and you’re ready to hang your float mount print.

Our metal box frame prints create an impactful viewing experience, giving the work an added sense of weight and heft. These prints have a preinstalled metal wire on the back of the frame for hanging, making for easy installation with any standard hook. The metal photo print is seamless edge to edge on the front making the box frame only visible from the sides. Please see the images below for examples.

Our metal box frame prints can come in any of the following 6 metal finish treatments.

All of our acrylic prints use a French Cleat hanging system. With this easy to install hanger, you simply level and hang the hanging block using 2 screws and then the other half of the hanging block, which is mounted on the back of your acrylic print slides right into place. You can read a more detailed explanation of French Cleats here.

Our canvas prints are stretched around a wooden stretcher frame. This frame has a preinstalled wire hanger that you can easily slip onto a hook or nail.
